BMW Reveals Their New Limited Edition Coupe, the 2016 M4 GTS

BMW has revealed their new limited edition coupe, set to be released near in 2016. The 2016 M4 GTS is a more extreme, limited edition version of the high performance M4 Coupe, running at reduced weight and improved power. This isn’t the first time that BMW (or their competitors) have put out limited edition versions of high performance cars; BMW is hoping that their new M4 GTS will rival the Porsche Cayman GT4 in terms of both power and popularity.

Despite this limited edtion coupe being very track focussed, head of BMW’s M range Frank van Meel has confirmed that you can quite happily use it as an everyday vehicle. He commented during the concept unveiling, saying, “While the M4 embodies the ideal combination of motorsport genes and unrestricted everyday usability, the Concept M4 GTS previews an exclusive new model with a keen focus on the race track. Despite its outstanding track ability, it is still fully road legal.”

So how do you go about improving on the M4 Coupe, a car which has already set the bar pretty high in terms of power and performance? There are a couple of additions to the M4 GTS, both internal and external, which make it look like BMW is onto a winner, both on the track and on the road. The 2016 M4 GTS features manually adjustable front and rear wings to help pin the car to the ground; larger wheels, both in terms of diameter and width; and a plastic bonnet (reinforced with carbon) which significantly reduces the overall weight of car and the car’s centre of gravity.

On top of this, the limited edition coupe even comes with an unusual water-cooled injection system to help squeeze even more power out of this stunning vehicle. There 5L water tank in the boot sprays a fine mist into the intake manifold of the 3L, six-cylinder twin turbo engine, which cools the engine as it runs. The can help the M4 GTS run at an impressive 500 BPH while reducing knock, meaning a higher turbo boost pressure and earlier injection timing.

All in all the M4 GTS is shaping up to be an impressive car, and in the right hands a switchable remapping of the engine can make the car even more spectacular than it already is. If you’re thinking about squeezing any more power out of your car make sure you call GAD Tuning today.
