Tio Ellinas
Tio Ellinas is the Current 2018 Porsche GB Cup winner who also carries the GAD ambassador banner after extensive work carried out on his Mercedes A45 AMG platform. After transforming his road going vehicle he quickly appreciated our capabilities for the “fast road” sector in road going vehicle modifications.
Ellinas’ first taste of motorsport came when he was seven years old racing in karts. He competed in 131 races winning 101 of them with 20 further podiums. His championship positions are as follows: Ellinas competed in the MSA Dunlop Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain with the JTR team. Tio was only the second driver since the legendary Ayrton Senna to start on the front row of a British Formula Ford race in his car racing debut, and was also the fastest pilot at every wet test during that debut year.
In the opening race of his 2nd season in the GP3 category, Tio Ellinas became only the 5th driver in the history of the GP3 Category to earn the Hat-Trick (Pole Position, Fastest Lap, and Race Win). Adding to the foundations laid out in the previous season, he finished 4th in the championship as the undisputed number 1 and team leader of the Marussia Manor Racing Team. In June 2013 when Tio Ellinas was awarded the opportunity to test Marussia’s Formula 1 car in the FIA’s Young Drivers Test program, Marussia Formula 1 team principle John Booth said
“Tio has done a superb job all season and thoroughly deserves the opportunity of an F1 Test.”
On the day of the testing, he set a lap around Silverstone that was quicker than current Marussia formula1 driver Max Chilton in the same car.
